Magical Coaching
Magical Coaching
Coaching, tuition, and consultation on fundamental principles of occult philosophy and techniques of magical practice.
Coaching in fundamental principles of occult philosophy and techniques of magical practice. Such coaching is informed by skills developed from completing a doctoral thesis in the history of magic as well as a number of years’ experience teaching and mentoring at university level; as well as training in teaching creative writing and performance. My tailored teaching is for anyone looking to get to grips with complicated theory and practice, whether just starting on a new focus or midway through detailed research and experimentation. I offer lessons, coaching, and consultations, as well as support material such as reading guides and historical occult texts.
Such lessons and consultations also includes offering guidance, troubleshooting and consultation on a client's own magical workings – offering advice on, for instance, exactly how to conduct a nine-day Uncrossing bathing ritual in a busy urban apartment block; or which sorts of materials, incantations, gestures, and timings to use in a particular spell or ritual and why. This kind of consultation is of course tailored to the individual client and practitioner.
Finally, I offer specific tuition in the history and use of European grimoires - historical magical texts for conjuring spirits and performing spells. This also includes consultations for designing and developing one's own ritual magical practices using the grimoires. Such coaching in sorcery and research combines my fascination and expertise with magical texts of all kinds, and especially in the medieval and early modern European grimoires: particularly the Heptameron, the Sepher Raziel, the Hygromanteia, the various Key of Solomon texts, as well as the slightly later Grand Grimoire, Red Dragon, and (most especially) the Grimorium Verum. I also offer consultation based on experience with personal magical workbooks, and am able to help enquiring students and practitioners of magic learn about topics such as the construction of ritual tools, the consecration of pentacles, and particular necromantic and demonological experiments and operations of the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries. Such work is informed by the practices of early modern cunning-craft, often demonstrating intersections of divination, folk sorcery, and learned ritual magic.
Presently, tuition is mostly accessed as either discrete hour-long sessions focused on particular topics, or as short individually-tailored correspondence courses of a six hour length. However, courses and ongoing consultations can be structured for the convenience of the client upon request. Typical matters for coaching include: consulting for clients who are designing their own Tarot decks; assisting clients who are learning geomancy; offering advice on performing ritual as part of various performance projects, installations, and experimental theatre; as well as helping folks to sharpen their crafts in planetary sorcery and folk magic.
